About Our District

The Manchester Township School District provides a quality education to nearly 3,000 students from Pre-K to grade 12 in Manchester Township, Ocean County, New Jersey.

We have three elementary schools: Ridgeway Elementary School (Gr. Pre-K-5), Whiting Elementary School (Gr. Pre-K-5), and Manchester Township Elementary School (Gr. K-5). These three schools feed into Manchester Township Middle School (Gr. 6-8), and then to Manchester Township High School (Gr. 9-12). We are also the receiving district for approximately 150 high school students from neighboring Lakehurst Borough. In addition, the district has administrative responsibility for the state Regional Day School (Special Education) located in Jackson, New Jersey.
Our district is governed by an elected Board of Education with seven members plus a representative from our sending district. The Board Office, Office of the Superintendent, and Central Administration Offices are located on Route 539 in the Whiting section of the township.
The district’s overall financial situation is characterized by stability and sensibility. We are offering a quality education that is affordable to our community. This outstanding record of fiscal responsibility has earned our district the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Accounting for the past 17 years.

The excellent fiscal record is complemented by an outstanding educational program. The instruction is provided by a highly skilled professional staff that utilizes a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of all of our students. Our staff also takes advantage of an excellent professional development program throughout the year to continue to grow professionally and offer our students a quality education.
In 2012, Manchester was determined to be a "High Performing District" as a result of the NJ Dept. of Education Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC) review process.

In addition to an excellent educational program, students in the Manchester School District have many extracurricular activity programs such as athletics, academic clubs, and music opportunities. Our students are encouraged to participate in sports programs and club activities throughout the district.
Our students also understand the importance of 'giving back' to the community. They have raised thousands of dollars for the American Heart Association and participate in programs like Kevin’s Kids and Helping Hands for Hunger that help local needy families. Our district hosts a Relay for Life Program that recognizes cancer survivors in our community, provides important information on cancer prevention and raises funds for cancer research. These are only a few of the examples of our students' service to the community. In return, we have many community volunteers who serve as mentors in our elementary schools to assist our students in education and represent excellent role models
Parents and community members are encouraged to play an active part in the Manchester Township School District. They receive district information through our district website, our district Facebook page, our Twitter feed @MTSDnews, our cable TV channel MTHS21, and through e-alerts and automated phone calls. Parents are encouraged to participate in the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and school-based Parent Advisory Committees. The PTA is an integral part of our district and contributes to the success of our programs by providing funds for equipment and educational programs. Additionally, the Manchester Township Educational Foundation provides grants to our teachers for technology and innovative programs.
The Manchester School District is a special place that provides our students a quality education, offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities and understands its commitment to the entire community.
