Meeting Highlights - March 08, 2007

The Manchester Township Board of Education, at their March 8, 2007 special meeting, adopted a tentative general funds budget for the 2007-2008 school year of $41,659,729. The local general fund tax levy would be $32,772,653 and the debt service tax levy would be $ 2,119,492. [link to budget]

Business Administrator Peter Corigliano said that the budget is up less than 4% from last year. He said that the district did not request any waivers from the state for increases above and beyond what the system automatically allows. He said the next step is to submit the budget to the County Superintendent for approval to advertise both the budget and the public hearing date.

The public budget hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Elementary School. The finalized proposed budget will be reviewed and formally adopted by the Board at this meeting.

The school election date is Tuesday, April 17 - polling hours are 2:30-9:00 p.m. Two seats are up for the Board of Education. Candidates are incumbents Jane Stiers and James Kenneth Pate, who are running unopposed.

The deadline to register to vote in the school election is Tuesday, March 27.
