The Manchester Township Board of Education, at their Dec. 21, 2009 meeting, honored Amanda Beck, David Boeger and Richard McAteer, 2009 graduates of Manchester Township High School, who earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of exceptional achievement on the AP Exams.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses in high school and earn college credit through their successful performance on the AP Exams. About 18 percent of the nearly 1.7 million students worldwide who took the exams last year qualified for an AP Scholar Award.
Boeger (above) qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. He is now attending MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
McAteer (above), who is now attending the University of Pennsylvania, earned the designation of AP Scholar for completing three or more AP exams with grades of 3 or higher.
Beck, who was not present at the meeting, also earned the designation of AP Scholar.
