Twenty-eight sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students from Manchester Township Middle School attended the annual Ocean County Gifted and Talented Convocation at the Ritacco Center in Toms River, NJ.  This year’s theme was the American Civil War. 

On the first day, students attended workshops addressing a wide range of related topics including:  Tales of the North, Tales of the South, A Day in a Soldier’s Life, Harriett Tubman and the Underground Railroad, and Dances of the Civil War Era.  The next day, students created and performed a ten minute scenario (example: play, talk show, documentary) about people that were reunited after the war.  Participants worked in groups with students from schools across Ocean County.  

The Manchester Township Middle School students received many compliments for their creativity, team work and eagerness to learn.
