Back to School Notes for Parents

Manchester Township students go back to school on Thursday, September 6.   Here are some important notes for parents:

  • All students should have received bus passes and room assignments/schedules in the mail. If you have not yet received this information, please call your school office immediately.
  • Parents are reminded that many important papers come home during the first few days of school, so please be sure to check your child’s backpack.  There will be several forms for you to fill out and sign.  It is especially important that you complete the emergency contact card and send it back to school immediately. This allows the school staff to reach you, or someone you have designated, in the event of an emergency, accident, or illness. It is recommended that you list all of your phone numbers (work, home, cellular) as well as several other persons to contact in an emergency. Also, we now use an automated phone system to notify parents in the event of an emergency closing or delayed opening so it is important that we have the correct contact information from you.
  • The federal school lunch form, which will was mailed to parents in late August, should be fully completed if you wish to apply for free or reduced lunches/breakfasts for your child.  You must complete a new form each year, even if you have received free or reduced lunch in the past.
  • All students should receive student/parent handbooks during the first week of school. Parents and students will find important information on such topics as dress codes, absence procedures, behavior expectations, disciplinary procedures, homework, etc. in these handbooks. You should review this information with your child. The district’s "Chalk Talk" activities calendar, which includes school events and holidays, will also be distributed during the first week of school.
  • Should you need to pick your child up at school, please be prepared to present identification to the school office staff. This is for the safety of your child.  Please note that no student will be released to anyone but his or her parent/guardian unless prior written notice is received and approved by the building principal.
  • All school visitors must report to the office upon arrival. During the school day, all doors are locked.  Visitors must identify themselves through the security system at the main entrance before being admitted by our office staff.  Visitors must sign in and get a visitor badge before proceeding through the building. Visits or conferences with teachers must be scheduled in advance so that our teachers may give their undivided attention to your children during class time.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.  Additional parent information is available on our Parents' Page .
