You should receive your child’s bus pass in the mail by the last week of August. If you do not receive it by this time, please call your school office. Please check the information on the bus pass immediately and, if there is a problem with your stop, call the Transportation Department at 732-849-2812 as soon as possible. Please do not wait until the first day of school to call.
On the first day of school, it is important for your child to be at the bus stop 10 minutes before the time listed on the bus pass. Please be advised that buses may run late or early for the first few weeks until schedules are fine-tuned.
We are sorry but we cannot split bus stops—children are picked up and dropped off at the same stop, AM and PM, five days a week.
ID Cards for Kindergarten students have been mailed to parents. Please make sure your child wears the ID Card for the first few weeks of school to help our staff identify your child and their bus route. Kindergarten parents are advised that they must be at the bus stop on time for drop-off as their child will not be let off the bus unless a designated adult is there to receive them. Please call the Transportation Dept. if you cannot be at the bus stop or if another adult will meet your child.
Please keep the following safety reminders in mind:
- Park legally at bus stops, at least 25 feet from the intersection. Do not crowd the bus stop or obstruct traffic.
- Look carefully before allowing your child to exit your vehicle at the bus stop.
- Do not pull your vehicle directly behind a bus and release your child to run alongside the bus. Do not “chase” the bus from one stop to another. If your child misses the bus, please take your child directly to school.
- Check your child’s clothing to make sure it is safe – long, dangling straps, drawstrings, scarves or other loose clothing pose a safety hazard, as do overlarge backpacks.
- Please make sure all loose papers are placed in your child’s backpack and make sure your child’s name and phone number are written in their backpack.
- Please notify the Transportation Dept. as well as the school nurse of any medical conditions (allergies, asthma, etc.) your child may have.
