Spring has finally arrived! We are thrilled that testing is over for grades 3 and 4. Students in grade 2 are testing this week with the Terra Nova. Fifth grade will take the NJ ASK the week of May 5.
Our Junior Impact Club did a fabulous job raising money for our St. Jude’s Math-a-thon. This was a school-wide initiative and we are proud to announce that we raised about $2,000.
April is a very busy month. April is Poetry Month and we will hold our contest on April 21. Our Earth Day Celebration will be held on April 22. We are also holding our Kindergarten registration on April 8, 9 and 10.
Other activities during the month include:
- The PTA, working with the Sheriff’s Department, will fingerprint students on April 7.
- The Crestwood Symphonette will perform for students on April 15.
The fifth grade will hold Colonial Day on April 10.
- The Ocean County Department of Safety will conduct a bicycle safety program for students on April 16.
- Students are going on wonderful trips this month including our fifth grade orientation to the Middle School on the 23rd. Check with your child’s teacher for dates and times.
Our teachers are working hard to continually improve their skills. They are participating in two study groups, one on Data Assessment and the other on Literacy Strategies.
Speaking of wonderful teachers, we want to congratulate Aggie Hawley, Whiting School’s Teacher of the Year.
