Eagle Scout Honored by BOE

Mrs. Bermudez with Eagle Scout Christopher Manchester Township High School senior, Christopher D., was honored at the July 25, 2012 Manchester Township Board of Education meeting for his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.

Christopher’s Eagle project entailed creating a time capsule for the high school, along with a garden in the area where the capsule is buried.  He said he worked on it for a few years from the beginning planning stages to its completion.  “I had a ton of help from everybody,” he said, explaining that part of the requirement is to show leadership by involving others in the project.  His fellow Scouts, friends, family, and staff at the high school all came through to help.

BOE member, Jackie Bermudez, presented Christopher with a plaque and a Hawk pin on behalf of the Board.  BOE member, Steve Placido, commended Christopher for his accomplishment, calling the Eagle Scout rank “one of the highest honors bestowed upon a young man.”
