Y-Kids, Y-Zone Childcare Offered

Manchester Township School District has contracted with the YMCA of Toms River to provide before and after school childcare programs for our students.  The Y-Kids program will be offered for grades K-5 at Manchester Twp., Ridgeway and Whiting Elementary Schools. A separate program called Y-Zone is being offered after school for Manchester Middle School students at the YMCA, with transportation available. Both programs have options for students to attend three, four or five days a week.

Curriculum for Y-Kids focuses on arts and humanities, literacy, science and technology, anti-bullying, social competence, conflict resolution, character development, homework help, health, wellness and fitness through CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health). CATCH is an evidence based program designed to promote physical activity, healthy food choices and prevent tobacco use in school aged children.

Y-Zone emphasizes Health & Fitness, Character Development, Social Responsibility, Conflict Resolution and assists in providing the students with tools needed to grow into successful young adults.  Homework assistance, intramural sports, games and swimming are also offered.

Registration must be done in person at the YMCA by August 8 in order to start on the first day of school.
