Lab Physics Honors Video Description
Grade 11-12
5 Credits
This is a comprehensive college preparatory physics course. Emphasis is on understanding the concepts and models upon which modem physics rests. Major areas of study will include concepts of equilibrium, refraction, diffraction and interference electrostatics, circuits, electrical and magnetic fields and quantum numbers and mechanics. Extensive laboratory work and attainment of at least the minimum passing grade on tests, quizzes and practicums. A cumulative midterm and final examination will each count one-tenth of the grade evaluation for the entire course.
Prerequisite: Biology, Co-requisite: Algebra II, summer assignment is required
Anatomy and Physiology Honors
Grade 11-12
5 Credits
This course is devoted to the study of the human body, its parts and how the interworking parts support the body as a whole. An emphasis will be placed on the systems of the body including, the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. Anatomical terms, special senses, blood, and genetics will also be discussed.
Prerequisite: Lab Biology, Lab Chemistry (85 or better final grade), and science teacher recommendation
Lab Marine Science
Grade 10-12
5 Credits
Lab Marine Science is an exciting inquiry, lab- based science course introducing students to the diverse, and demanding world we call the sea. This course is for the student with an interest in the many aspects of the marine environment, and in developing the ability to identify the problems and possible solutions of our ocean habitat. Areas for consideration will be how humans are impacting oceans on a global scale, knowing the ocean world, marine organisms and their habitats, tides, waves, coasts, marine resources and concerns. This will be the beginning of a life-long interest with our marvelous yet daunting world we call the ocean.
Prerequisites: Lab Biology and Lab Chemistry
Lab Forensic Science
Grade 11-12
5 credits
This inquiry, laboratory- based science course for juniors and seniors provides an introduction to the field of forensic science. The course of study includes the applications of forensic science concepts (which involves biology, chemistry, and physics) to analyze and investigate evidence that may be discovered in a criminal investigation. Classroom activities include: laboratory investigations and activities, research projects, famous case studies, lab practicums, career exploration, and the infusion of technology throughout the scope of the course.
