BOE Honors MTMS Teacher of the Year
Congratulations Megan Baumgartner!
The Manchester Township Board of Education honored Manchester Township Middle School Teacher of the Year, Megan Baumgartner, at their November 2020 meeting. Mrs. Baumgartner has been a Special Education teacher at the middle school for 17 years.
Introductory remarks by Steve Ninivaggi, MTMS Vice Principal
It is a great pleasure that I introduce Megan Baumgartner as the Middle School Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Baumgartner is supported by her husband, Rob, and her son, Casey, and daughter, Sammy. They're all here tonight. She has taught Special Education Language Arts at the middle school for 17 years. She earned a bachelor of science in special education at West Chester University and a master's degree in education and administration from Grand Canyon University.
Mrs. Baumgartner has built a career around helping students and being a leader amongst her colleagues. She established herself as an accomplished teacher who has earned the respect of parents and colleagues. She sets high expectations for her students while promoting a caring environment where all students thrive. Mrs. Baumgartner has established herself as an outstanding special education teacher who has had extensive training in the Wilson reading program and has established a successful program at the middle school. She has approached this role the way she has always approached every aspect of her life, with an exemplary work ethic, positive attitude and the energy often seen from a brand new teacher. It is not surprising then that Mrs. Baumgartner has found success teaching special education. She not only generally brings a demand for a high level of performance from her students but she has expanded her experiences in preparing them for the rigors of high school. In addition to her commitment to her students Mrs Baumgartner serves as assistant to the principal and is an active participant in the ScIP committee. As a member of the ScIP (School Improvement) committee, Mrs. Baumgartner assists in developing, planning and presenting professional development to the staff. Her expertise in literacy makes her truly an asset to the middle school. In addition to her commitment to the middle school, Mrs. Baumgartner gives back to the community by participating in a variety of fundraisers that assist middle school students and their parents.
I would like to congratulate Megan on her accomplishments and wish her the best of luck as our Teacher of the Year.
Remarks by Megan Baumgartner
I will be very brief. Thank you. I am honored to have been chosen as the Middle School Teacher of the Year. It has certainly been a very different year and sometimes difficult, nonetheless, I am privileged to work under a very supportive administration and with an outstanding group of colleagues. I look forward to when we can all be back in school together again. And a special thank you to my family for your love and support.
