Parent Survey about School Reopening

Dear Parents, Staff, and Students,

As a follow up from my last letter, the staff and administration have had an opportunity to review some of the specific guidelines set forth by Governor Murphy’s The Road Back: Restart and Recovery Plan for Education. We have established several committees both on the district level and individual school levels to gather information from a variety of sources and to develop a plan that best meets the needs of our students, parents, and staff in a safe educational setting and also be sound instructionally. Although there is a lot of work to do, certain decisions have to be made based on the requirements. For example, due to the restrictions on six-foot spacing in the classrooms, it will be impossible to have all students report to the buildings at the same time. The important point to emphasize is that health and safety will be the priority. In order for the committees to move forward, I am asking our parents to complete a survey on certain items. I understand the information on the plan is limited at this time and your responses are not final, but your feedback at this point is critical. I will also be providing parents an opportunity to express concerns, propose ideas, and ask questions to each committee. This will be in a separate letter. I know that whatever plan is developed, it will not be beneficial to everyone but please understand that we will be guided by the input of parents and staff and the requirements put forth by the state. I will keep you updated as this is early in the process but we are under a tight schedule.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
