Reopening Plan Committee & Parent Input Information

Superintendent's Message July 9, 2020

Dear Parents,

We are in the process of gathering  information that is essential to developing a Return to School Plan for September.  Hopefully, you have had an opportunity to complete the survey that is posted on our webpage.  If you have not had a chance to complete this survey, please do so before Friday, July 10, 2020.  This will give us important information as we develop the plan to reopen in September.  As per the Governor's directive, we will establish a Return to School Committee to oversee this process.  In addition to this district committee, we have established several sub-committees that will provide input on specific topics.  Each school has these subcommittees and they are meeting to gather information that is specific to their particular school with the intent to report to the district committee.  These sub committees are:

  • Health and Safety
  • Facilities & Cleaning
  • Scheduling & Staffing
  • Curriculum & Instruction
  • Social Emotional Learning
  • Technology
  • Transportation
  • Athletics & Before and After School Activities
  • Funding and Food Service

If you would like to join one of these committees, please email your child’s building principal.

If you would like to provide input or express a concern on any of these topics or any topic in general, we have established an email for these concerns. The email address is parentinput@mtschools.org.

While providing in-person instruction to our students will be a positive step, unfortunately, it will not be a typical September school opening. I fully understand that no matter which plan is eventually adopted, it will not be without hardships for each of our Manchester Township families. Your input and concerns are greatly appreciated and we will do our best to develop a plan that best meets the needs of our students, parents and staff, however, our plan has to follow all of the health and safety requirements set forth by the Governor in his report,  The Road Back: Restart and Recovery Plan for Education. It is important to understand that the health and safety of our students and staff will be the primary factor in developing this plan and must be balanced against other areas such as instruction, transportation, and child care issues.

Thank you for your understanding, and input.
