MTEA Excellence in Education Celebration

On Friday, March 11, 2022 the Manchester Township Education Association (MTEA) held its first ever Excellence In Education Celebration at the Clarion Inn in Toms River. The event was a celebration of the great work being done in the Manchester Township School District, including recognition of the 2021 Manchester Teachers and Education Service Professionals (ESPs) of the Year, as well as the MTEA Transportation, Buildings & Grounds, Paraprofessional and Secretary ESPs of the Year. The honorees were:

MTEA ESP’s of the Year:

  • Secretary - Meghan Rabenstein, Secretary at Ridgeway
  • Transportation - Bernadette Widmaier, Bus Driver
  • Paraprofessional - Tami Sereda, Regional Day

In addition, the Unsung Hero Award was given to all Manchester school nurses, who worked tirelessly during the pandemic doing contact tracing, quarantine notifications, and going far above and beyond the call of duty to keep our students, staff, schools and community safe.

Mayor Robert Hudak issued a proclamation marking the event and Town Council President Joan Brush, and Councilwoman Michelle Zolezi were also present. NJEA Officers, Secretary-Treasurer Petal Robertson, Vice-President Steve Beatty, and President Sean Spiller welcomed attendees via a video address. The MTEA is a local affiliate of the Ocean County Council of Education Associations, the New Jersey Education Association, and the National Education Association, consisting of approximately 3.2 million members.
