Ms. Lisa Michallis, Principal
It has been an exciting and busy summer at RDS! At the end of June, the Manchester Township Educational Foundation awarded our school a $15,000 grant to develop a STEAM/Makerspace lab. The grant will be used to purchase technology, equipment and supplies for activities. On July 1st we opened our second preschool class. Our youngest learners continue to grow, learn and explore with their friends and with the supports of our teachers and paraprofessionals as well as occupational, speech and physical therapists. Our “Everything New Jersey” Extended School Year Program was full of adventures and concluded on August 12th. Since then, our custodial staff and Building and Grounds Department have been diligently working on building maintenance and projects. When you enter the school next month you will notice the freshly painted halls and updated center pod area.
The 2019-2020 school year will commence with two staff orientation days on September 3rd and 4th. Teachers and support personnel will receive training on a variety of topics ranging from school safety, instructional strategies, and technology. They will participate in professional learning communities and prepare lessons and classrooms.
I am thrilled to share that we have new additions to the RDS family, as we welcome both new students and staff. Please join me in welcoming the following individuals to our faculty:
Regina Facchino, Speech Therapist
Lauren Kropa, Speech Therapist
Josh Pennypacker, Personal Paraprofessional
Megan Scheffler, Transition Teacher
Jenna Staves, Classroom Teacher A4
Crystal Stevenson, Head Custodian
The district has a new food service provider, Pomptonian. Families may continue to use the online pay system, payforit.net, to electronically pay for daily meals. Free and Reduced Meal Applications were recently mailed home to families. The menu for September, as well as applications will be sent home on the first day of school. Families will need to complete a new Free and Reduced Meal Application for the new school year. Feel free to visit the district website, https://www.manchestertwp.org/resources/lunch, for additional information.
I hope you enjoyed the well-deserved summer break and spending time with your family and friends. I look forward to hearing about the students’ travels when they return to school on Thursday, September 5, 2019. Enjoy the remainder of your summer vacation. It is going to be an awesome school year!
