Option to Change From In-Person to Remote Only Instruction

August 11, 2020

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents who have used the email to ask questions and to explain their concerns. I appreciate the input and, while I realize that no schedule will meet the needs of all of our students and families, we are trying to take into consideration many of your concerns. We are also trying to provide our students with the best educational instruction possible under these circumstances.

As you are aware, the deadline for parents to choose the remote only option instruction for their child(ren) is Friday, August 14.  Students who are receiving this option must remain on remote only for the first marking period.  However, I received several questions on the policy for parents who select in-person instruction and if it would be possible to switch to remote only. Originally, the policy was that students would need to remain in-person for the marking period.  However after listening to some parent concerns and reading emails, we have decided to allow this change to be made prior to the end of the first marking period.

Any parent who selects in-person instruction and decides to change that decision to remote-only instruction after the first two weeks, should contact the Principal of the school their child attends to request the change. I realize the difficult decisions parents are faced with at this time and we can accommodate students changing from in-person to remote. However parents who select remote only must wait until the end of the first marking period to change that decision.

I hope this change helps parents who need to make the difficult decision of in-person instruction or remote-only instruction.

Thank you again for all of your understanding and please continue to review our website for additional information and any other changes.
