Manchester Schools Provide Thanksgiving Baskets to Neighbors in Need
MTHS Peer Leaders Organize Helping Hands for Hunger
Helping Hands for Hunger is a project of the Peer Leadership Program at Manchester Township High School. Each year, they organize a drive to collect donations in order to provide Thanksgiving food baskets to local families in need. The baskets contain the makings of a full Thanksgiving feast, including a turkey, stuffing, gravy, vegetables, fruit, cranberry sauce, rolls, and a dessert.
School clubs and teams from all of the district’s schools contribute to the drive, along with local businesses and individuals. Students and staff from all of the district's schools pack the baskets in an assembly-line fashion a few days before Thanksgiving, joined by volunteers from the community. . Peer Leadership teacher Sarah Paturzo said that this year, over 150 baskets were packed and distributed. She expressed her appreciation to all of the donors and volunteers on behalf of her students.
