Today, Manchester Township Elementary School (MTES) gave students the opportunity to experience what it feels like to participate in an election. The Ocean County Board of Elections brought actual voting booths to the school, giving students the chance to step into a real voting environment and cast their votes.
Students were supported throughout the process by our attendance ambassadors, who helped classmates line up, understand the voting process, and cast their ballots. The ambassadors worked from class rosters and scheduled times to help the election run smoothly.
And what were students voting for? Milkshake flavors! Students chose between the Maverick Chocolate Milkshake and the Dragon Delight Vanilla Milkshake. Yum!
Once the polls close on Friday, the winning flavor will be featured on the Starbucks menu during the MTES Barnes & Noble event in October.
Beyond the fun, this experience provided students with an authentic opportunity to learn about voting and the importance of having their voices heard. From entering the voting booth to proudly wearing an “I Voted!” sticker, our students experienced firsthand what it means to participate in the voting process.
We look forward to seeing our MTES families at the MTES Barnes & Noble event on October 15 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the Brick Barnes & Noble. Please remember to check your student’s digital backpack for additional information.
We are proud of our MTES students for participating, learning, and making their voices heard!
