The Manchester Township High School (MTHS) Chapter of National Honor Society was contacted by MTHS Alumni, Natalie Lelievre, to assist with a very special Senior Prom on May 29th at a local memory care facility for seniors. While most of the MTHS Senior Hawks prepared for their own Senior Prom that day, four (4) Junior NHS Members stepped in and pampered the residents at Alcouer Gardens Memory Care Facility as they prepped for their own "Fly Me To The Moon" Prom Event.
NHS Volunteers traveled to Alcouer Gardens with NHS advisor Heather Staples, where they were tapped to assist with makeup, hair, floral arrangements, jewelry selection, and table settings for the day's big event. Manchester's student volunteers helped to roll out the red carpet for prom attendees, whom they helped ready for a prom luncheon featuring a live band and their friends!
Several student volunteers referenced their own experiences with their grandparents, who have struggled with memory loss, and parents who work in a similar field. Seeing the smiles and "big reveal" moments brought joy to all involved. The MTHS NHS looks forward to working with Alcouer Gardens in the future and truly appreciates the opportunity to play a little role in a grand event!
