This morning, a group of dedicated students from Manchester Township High School (MTHS) joined dozens of volunteers at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River for the weekly Pop the Trunk food distribution, a vital program run in partnership with Fulfill Food Bank to support local families in need.

Students gathered in the church’s parking lot, ready to help distribute food items directly into the trunks of cars. The “pop your trunk” model enables volunteers to safely and efficiently load groceries in a hands-on way to give back, which has become a lifeline for many in the community. Because of this program, students don’t just learn in the classroom; they also apply skills in a way that directly benefits their neighbors. Whether it’s lifting boxes, organizing food items, or simply interacting with community members, their contributions matter.

This isn’t the first time MTHS students have stepped up for the community. Their participation in Pop the Trunk aligns perfectly with their broader tradition of service here in Manchester. Whether through school-led food drives, community outreach, or other volunteer efforts. For example, yesterday MTHS students hosted the ARC, Ocean County for their 2nd Annual Turkey Bowl. Next week, many MTHS students will help lead the annual Helping Hands for Hunger food drive in Manchester Township!
Manchester's students and staff consistently show that they don’t just want to be bystanders; they want to be part of the solution. By serving others, they reinforce a message that resonates across school walls: giving back is not just a choice, but a core value. Way to live out our school district's motto, Excellence by Example!
