Each month, the Board of Education recognizes staff, as well as students from every school, at their meeting. This month, the Board of Education celebrated with the community the following students for their achievements:
Manchester Township Elementary School:
Each year, fifth-grade students at MTES participate in a service learning project where they experience the importance of giving back to the community. This year, students are creating wallets from recycled juice pouches, and they will sell them for a dollar at field day. Two of the MTES fifth graders have gone above and beyond to make this year’s project a success: Charlotte Peck and Abigail Offerman. They both have worked extremely hard from collecting the many Capri Sun pouches, to spending recess sewing them together along with their classmates. We are so proud of the students who are participating in this project. All proceeds from the sale will go to JBJ Soul Kitchen in Toms River.
Ridgeway Elementary School:
Jesus Escobar Manchola joined Ridgeway Elementary School on January 16, 2025, marking his first educational experience in the United States. His daily commitment to learning is evident as he arrives at school focused and prepared to engage in his studies. Jesus actively participates in class discussions, answering questions in English, and skillfully applying the vocabulary taught during lessons. He consistently follows instructions and demonstrates independence by integrating the strategies and skills imparted by his teachers into his work.
Whiting Elementary School:
Whiting School would like to proudly recognize Dominick Oliver and Gunnar VanWagner for their assistance with the school’s POAC fundraiser.
Dominick, a sweet and social 4th grader from room 26, enthusiastically supported POAC's autism awareness fundraisers by making announcements and expertly applying his money skills to sorting and counting donations.
Gunnar, a smiling and helpful 5th grader also from room 26, diligently assisted the classroom paras in distributing flyers and collecting orders to make this fundraiser a huge success.
Regional Day School:
Congratulations to Regional Day School’s Student of the Month, Guy Watkins! Guy follows directions and is a great role model for his classmates. He is always polite, uses good manners, always helps his friends, and uses appropriate social behaviors.
Manchester Township Middle School:
Murray is a seventh-grade student at Manchester Township Middle School (MTMS) who is on the MTMS Engineering Team. Joe recently entered the KidWind and Finn Scientific’s Whitebox Learning turbine and wind farms National Challenge. He won first place in the middle school category and tied for the highest score in the high school category! Congratulations to Joe for an exceptional accomplishment.
Manchester Township Middle School – Student Athletes of the Month:
Congratulations to Emilio Padilla and Molly McKeever, Manchester Township Middle School’s student athletes for the month of April. Emilio and Molly are both a great representation of what it means to be a student athlete. They are both 8th grade leaders of our track & field and cheerleading/track & field teams respectively, work just as hard in the classroom as they do in the athletic arena, and serve as an excellent example to our younger student athletes.
Manchester Township High School:
Manchester Township High School is proud to recognize three outstanding students who have been selected to represent our school at the prestigious American Legion Boys and Girls State programs—Layla Butterfield, Gabriel Calafati, and Joshua Johnson. These highly selective programs immerse students in the operations of local, county, and state government, developing future leaders through hands-on civic education. These students were chosen for their leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to their school and community. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and confident they will represent Manchester Township with distinction.
Manchester Township High School – Student Athletes of the Month:
Riley McGuire & King Bass are Manchester Township High School’s student athletes of the month for April.
Riley, a 4 year starter and captain of our lacrosse team has led the Lady Hawks to a 5-0 start in the division. She is the 6th player in program history to score 100 career goals, currently at 118. Riley did so in a big win vs. Jackson Liberty.
King led the Hawks to their 5th consecutive division title by winning 4 events in the Division Championship meet at Barnegat. The 100 meter dash, the long jump, triple jump and high jump. In doing so King has set the tone for big things to come from himself and the track team.
Congratulations Riley and King for modeling Excellence by Example. GO HAWKS!
