The Memorial Day commemorations continued after Tuesday's banner dedication, as the Manchester Township School District prioritized taking time to remember those who sacrificed for our freedoms.
Today, Lt. Holzer is at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst for the 42nd annual Parade of Wreaths. Each year, the wreath-laying ceremony is held in conjunction with Memorial Day to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice paid by service members and police officers, past and present.
Also today, Senior Chief Patrick McKay with the Manchester Township High School (MTHS) JROTC joined the MTHS band for an annual Memorial Day Parade at Manchester's Regional Day School (RDS). The weather could not stop our patriots or their parade as Emmalie proudly shared the Pledge of Allegience, Miss Ellie's class revealed the wreath that RDS handmade which will be dedicated and on display in the Veteran's Memorial Garden in Whiting, and posters that are hung on the walls today but usually held by RDS students during the parade, will be displayed at the Jackson AMVETS Post 2 throughout Memorial Day weekend.
On Saturday, the community is invited to join our students for the Flag Planting Ceremony at Whiting Memorial Park at 8:30 AM. All are also encouraged to join us for the Manchester Township Memorial Day Parade in Whiting on Monday, where our students will perform.
