These honors were established through community nominations to celebrate outstanding staff, administrators, volunteers, and community members who exemplify excellence in education and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to supporting and advocating for Manchester’s students both inside and outside the classroom. Rookie of the Year
Christopher Hoffman, Vice Principal/Athletic Director
Manchester Township High School
Christopher Hoffman is being recognized as Manchester Township School District’s Rookie of the Year for his exceptional dedication, initiative, and immediate impact in his first year as Assistant Principal/Vice Principal at MTHS.
Before the school year even began, he invested countless personal hours preparing for the role to ensure a strong and seamless start. Since then, he has distinguished himself by building meaningful relationships with both staff and students, fostering a positive and connected school culture. Mr. Hoffman has introduced new initiatives, such as the Hawk Eye Newsletter and bringing the first-ever Slam Dunk Autism Challenge to MTHS, that strengthen communication and community within the “Hawk Family,” while demonstrating a deep commitment to understanding and supporting every member of the school. Drawing on his background as a coach and special education teacher, he brings high expectations, strong leadership, and a passion for student and staff success. Jill Ocone, Educator & Advisor

Jill Ocone is being recognized as the recipient of Manchester Township School District’s Legacy Award for her extraordinary, lasting impact on students, staff, and the entire school community through a career defined by leadership, compassion, and innovation. As an educator and advisor, she revitalized programs such as the Student Government Association, established enduring traditions like Hawkapalooza, and elevated the Journalism and Yearbook programs to new levels of excellence, earning recognition and fostering student pride. Her initiatives, including the Hawk Hall of Honor and meaningful Veterans Day ceremonies, reflect her deep commitment to honoring community and service.

As a 4th-grade teacher at RES, she consistently goes above and beyond to provide meaningful mentorship, taking the time to listen, share practical strategies, and build the confidence of those around her. Mrs. Rousseau is an exceptional and dedicated member of the Whiting school community, whose impact extends far beyond her 27-year career in the district. In retirement, she has spent the past two years remaining deeply involved at Whiting Elementary School, supporting the school garden program by helping students plant and grow vegetables and fostering hands-on learning experiences. She regularly visits preschool classrooms to lead engaging activities such as butterfly releases, cooking lessons, and garden demonstrations, enriching early childhood education.
In addition to her work with students, Mrs. Rousseau serves as a valued stakeholder on the preschool Early Childhood Advisory Committee and generously supports school events by volunteering her time and talents, including baking for staff and special occasions. Her continued commitment demonstrates that her passion for education is not just a profession, but a lifelong dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and the school community.
