RES Garden Refresh

There is something special about seeing a school community come together with a shared purpose, and that is exactly what happened today at Ridgeway Elementary School this week.

Students, staff and families rolled up their sleeves to help give the school’s garden a much needed refresh. Working together, volunteers tackled a list of projects designed to clear the space, prepare the garden beds, and create a stronger foundation for this outdoor classroom’s near future.

The group pulled weeds, built and filled garden beds and cleared rocks and other debris from the area. Volunteers also straightened the stones surrounding the garden beds, removed weeds around the pine stump and helped move benches and tables to better organize the space. Debris was also moved, and materials were loaded onto a truck as the team worked through the project.

By the end of the day, the group had refreshed the space, making significant headway toward transforming the garden into a welcoming and functional place for students.

The progress and project are a wonderful example of what can happen when students, families, and staff work together. The garden will continue to take shape, but the foundation has been strengthened by the time, effort, and care of the people who came together to make a difference today.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to help make Ridgeway Elementary School’s garden a beautiful place for students to learn and connect with nature.
