Builder visits PreK for Building Studies

As part of our preschool students' Buildings Study, Manchester's educators are always looking for meaningful ways to connect classroom learning to the real world, and Mrs. Cataldo did just that yesterday!

Students in Mrs. Cataldo's Universal Preschool class were excited to welcome Mr. Cataldo into their classroom to share his experience as a construction worker. He introduced the children to his role as a Sheet Metal Worker, showing them some of the specialized tools he uses to cut metal and shape ductwork. The students were fascinated to see real tools in action and learn how buildings come together behind the scenes.

To everyone’s surprise (including Mrs. Cataldo's!), Mr. Cataldo generously gifted the class a brand-new tool set. The excitement was contagious, and the children couldn’t wait to put their new knowledge and new tools to use!

After the demonstration, the class worked alongside Mr. Cataldo to build sturdy houses using blocks. This hands-on experience allowed them to apply what they learned, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Experiences like these help bring our lessons to life, making learning both engaging and memorable. A big thank you to Mr. Cataldo for inspiring our young builders!
