The Manchester Township High School (MTHS) 18–21-year-old transition class had the unique opportunity to visit Joint Base-McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, thanks to the coordination and support of MTHS' Lieutenant Commander John Holzer and Senior Chief Patrick McKay.
The visit offered students an engaging, hands-on experience where they interacted with military personnel, explored aviation equipment, and observed demonstrations from the base's military working dogs.
The experience was designed to support their development of real-world life skills, social interaction, and a sense of inclusion. For the MTHS students in this program, opportunities like this foster confidence, broaden their understanding of the world, and help them feel like valued members of the community.
The Manchester Township School District is unique as it directly neighbors the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. This opportunity allows for a continued partnership between the school district and JB-MDL, providing wonderful opportunities for soldiers, students, and staff alike, as experienced by these MTHS students this week. Thank you to all who made this wonderful and educational trip possible!
