The Manchester Township School District will host its 57th Annual Gospel Chorus Tribute honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 6:30 PM at Manchester Township High School, 1 Hawks Way, Manchester. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children ages five and older.
Founded in 1968 following Dr. King’s assassination, the Manchester Township Gospel Chorus is New Jersey’s first and longest-running school-based gospel chorus. Performed by middle and high school students, the annual tribute continues its mission of spreading Dr. King’s messages of hope, unity, and social justice through music.
Originally established by educator Queen Cannon and now directed by Taylor Bullock, the chorus draws hundreds each year. This year’s program will feature traditional gospel praise music, along with a special patriotic segment in which Manchester’s middle and high school choruses join the Gospel Chorus to perform African American music from the Revolutionary and Civil War eras in recognition of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
