Manchester Township High School (MTHS) senior Josh Johnson, Class of 2026 President and National Honor Society member, recently conducted a highly successful voter registration drive at MTHS, helping more than 50 students take an important step in civic engagement.

Josh began planning the initiative in late October with the goal of reaching students who would be turning 18 at the mid-year point of the school year. As part of a senior service project through the National Honor Society, he completed an online training course and received additional guidance and materials through Democracy in a Box. He also worked directly with the county office to obtain the appropriate voter registration documents and mailers.
Throughout the week, Josh actively promoted the drive by making announcements before and during lunch periods and by visiting students at their lunch tables to explain the registration process and answer questions. His outreach efforts resulted in the successful registration of more than 50 eligible student voters.

“I’m very passionate about government and politics. It’s truly important that we as Americans exercise our rights to the fullest and make informed decisions,” Josh shared. “You don’t have to love politics to be informed about what’s going on around you. When I realized that I had an opportunity to effectuate real change, I couldn’t help but follow through.”
Josh’s leadership and dedication highlight the importance of civic responsibility and student involvement in the democratic process. His efforts not only empowered his peers but also reinforced Manchester Township High School’s commitment to developing informed, engaged citizens.
