This Valentine’s Day, the spirit of giving is in full bloom at Manchester Township High School (MTHS). Three dedicated MTHS seniors, Alexa, Mailynh, and Sarah, took their passion for helping others to the next level by delivering a heartfelt donation of over $1,200.00 worth of items to Providence House, a domestic violence shelter serving mothers, children, and single women.
As part of their senior projects, the students put all wishlist items onto an Amazon Registry and promoted it to the community to engage friends and family. They also ran sign-ups during school lunch periods to involve peers and teachers in the effort. In just two weeks, they collected a wide array of essential and self-care items to support individuals and families during difficult times.

All donations were carefully organized into boxes by category, including Valentine’s specialties, self-care items, laundry essentials, and more. For a special personalized touch, the seniors baked homemade cookies and brownies, placing them in treat boxes, and wrote personalized cards with words of encouragement to accompany each package. These thoughtful additions were designed to bring not only practical help but also a reminder of love and care to those staying at the shelter.

Reflecting on the project, Sarah shared, “We wanted to echo the spirit of Valentine’s in a meaningful way and remind these individuals that brighter days are ahead.” Alexa added, “I am so proud of our hard work and overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who helped make this project possible.” Mailynh said, “I am thankful for the opportunity to support the women and children at Providence House and to all the families who donated.”
The seniors emphasized that the project meant a lot to them. It demonstrates the love and compassion that define Manchester’s students. Over and over, Manchester’s students show that their hearts are as big as their ambitions. Whether participating in school events, helping in the community, or leading projects like this one, they consistently demonstrate a commitment to supporting those in need. This Valentine’s Day, their generosity, thoughtfulness, and creativity are shining in a very real and meaningful way.

By delivering these donations yesterday, these seniors are not only completing their projects but also leaving a lasting impact, proving that love, empathy, and action can go hand in hand to make the world a sweeter place.
