R. Morris MTMS to WES Preschool for Basketball Lesson

Preschool students in Mrs. Cataldo's class at Whiting Elementary School (WES) recently welcomed a special guest as part of their exercise unit. WES parent and Manchester Township Middle School head basketball coach, Mr. Morris, stopped by to help students wrap up the unit with a fun and active lesson focused on basic basketball skills.

During the visit, students practiced passing, dribbling, and shooting while learning how athletes work together as a team. The coach also led the class through stretching exercises and talked about why warming up is important before playing sports or exercising.

In addition to practicing basketball skills, the students learned about teamwork and listening. They gathered for a team-style huddle and discussed how players listen to their coach and follow directions on the court, just like students do in the classroom.

The visit was a great way to bring the preschool exercise unit to life. Students had the opportunity to stay active, try new skills, and see how teamwork and listening play an important role both in sports and at school. Thank you, Mr. Morris!
