As part of their ongoing Buildings Investigation, students in Mrs. Cataldo's preschool class at Whiting Elementary School were excited to welcome special guest, Mrs. Klein, into the classroom last week! An editor working in a New York City skyscraper, Mrs. Klein brought the Creative Curriculum to life by sharing photos and stories of her workplace, including her office building, conference room, elevators, and daily commute, helping students better understand how large buildings function in the real world.

She also connected the lesson to a different type of structure by introducing her family’s farm store. Through photos of the store and its greenhouse, students explored where fruits and vegetables are grown and sold, sparking meaningful discussion about the similarities and differences between a towering skyscraper and a local business. Her thoughtful visit and surprise fruit-themed notepads and pens made a lasting impression, deepening students’ understanding of buildings through real-life experiences tied directly to their Creative Curriculum.
