Two dedicated Manchester Township High School (MTHS) seniors are bringing a meaningful tradition back to the Manchester community. Gabriel and James have taken the initiative to revive Relay For Life as part of their senior service project! Inspired by their past involvement in Make-A-Wish Week through the National Honor Society, what began as a small idea to support cancer research quickly grew into something much bigger after the pair discovered old videos of past MTHS Relay For Life events. Motivated to make a lasting impact, they expanded the project into their Leadership Seminar class, where classmates have joined as a committee to help plan and organize the event.

For both students, the mission is deeply personal. James shares that his passion for the cause stems from the loss of his mother, who bravely battled brain cancer three times before passing away in 2020. He hopes to honor her memory through the event’s luminary ceremony and is driven to raise funds and awareness for others facing similar battles. Gabriel is equally inspired by his own family’s experiences, having lost his grandmother to a rare form of uterine cancer at a young age, while another grandmother is a proud breast cancer survivor who now writes children’s books to inspire others. Together, Gabriel and James are committed to creating an event that not only raises critical funds but also brings the community together in remembrance, hope, and support for those impacted by cancer.
The Manchester community is encouraged and invited to join MTHS and be part of this special evening by marking your calendars for Friday, June 5, from 6:00 PM to midnight. Participants can create or join a team and take part in the walk while supporting a meaningful cause. For more information and to sign up, please visit: https://bit.ly/MTHSRelayforLife2026
