On Monday, May 4, Advanced Journalism students from Manchester Township High School (MTHS) traveled to the NJ101.5 Studios for an immersive, behind-the-scenes look at professional broadcast journalism in action.
Throughout the visit, students were given a guided tour of the studio facilities and had the unique opportunity to observe a fully functioning newsroom during live production. They watched journalists as they prepared and delivered real-time content, gaining insight into the fast-paced nature of daily news reporting.

A highlight of the experience was watching both a live newscast and a talk show being produced, allowing students to see firsthand how segments are planned, coordinated, and executed from start to finish.
Students also had the opportunity to meet staff members from 94.5 PST, NJ101.5’s sister station, expanding their understanding of how multiple media outlets operate within the same network. A Q&A session with journalists and media professionals gave students the chance to ask questions about career paths, daily responsibilities, and the evolving landscape of broadcast media.

In addition to observing live production, students were able to learn about the behind-the-scenes operations that keep a newsroom running efficiently, from planning and scripting to technical production and on-air delivery.
The experience offered students an engaging, real-world perspective on journalism and media production. Many students expressed excitement about what they observed and appreciation for the opportunity to step inside a professional broadcast environment. Thanks to Mr. Farrell and Mr. Lang for inspiring Manchester's students and continuing to develop their skills in journalism and media communication.
