MTHS GIRLS GOLF 2026

At Manchester Township High School, excitement is growing around one of the school’s rising athletic programs: girls' golf.

This season marked the first time in 18 years that Manchester Township High School fielded a Girls Golf Team, making the program’s return especially meaningful for the school community. This year, many students came out for the team, representing the strongest level of interest the program has seen in several years. The increase reflects a broader national trend, as girls’ participation in golf continues to rise across the country and more young women discover opportunities in the sport.

What makes this year especially meaningful is the number of students from MTHS who are trying something completely new. Several members of the team are playing golf for the first time. Coaches and school leaders say that the willingness to step outside comfort zones and embrace a new challenge speaks to the positive culture around the school and this program.

Across the United States, girls' golf has become one of the fastest-growing segments of the game in recent years. Increased visibility of women’s athletics, expanded youth golf programs, and greater access to the sport have all contributed to growing interest among high school students. Locally, that momentum is now being felt at Manchester Township High School.

“This team represents more than just competition,” said Coach Huchko. “It represents confidence, teamwork, and students being willing to learn something new. We are proud of every player who decided to give golf a try and represent Manchester Township High School this season.”

Yesterday afternoon, the team competed in its final match of the season against Donovan Catholic, closing out a memorable first year for the returning program. Throughout the season, the student-athletes developed not only their golf skills but also friendships, confidence, and a growing love for the game. One student has even been inspired to continue playing beyond high school and plans to try out for a college golf team next year.

As the team headed into practices and matches this season, school leaders said the energy surrounding the program was inspiring. More experienced players and beginners alike helped build a foundation that could strengthen girls' golf at MTHS for years to come.

That momentum is already continuing into the future. During Freshman Orientation this year, many incoming ninth-grade girls signed up expressing interest in joining the 2026–27 Girls Golf Team, an encouraging sign that enthusiasm for Hawks Golf is continuing to grow.

For the students involved, the season was about more than scores and competition. It was about learning, growing, supporting one another, and being part of something larger than themselves, an exciting new chapter for girls' athletics at Manchester Township High School.
