Yesterday, Manchester Township Elementary School (MTES) was visited by Reading Buddies from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB-MDL)! Everyone was excited to welcome the service members back for a new school year, as they shared stories to circles of mesmerized students throughout the school.
After storytime, students jumped at the opportunity to ask questions and learn firsthand about the visitors’ role in the military and our community. They asked insightful questions about the service members’ experiences with travel and daily life - every time a question was answered, five more hands popped up!
Through the Reading Buddies program, service members from JB-MDL spend time each month spreading smiles to students throughout the Manchester Township School District (MTSD) and deepening the bonds between our school community and military families.
We are beyond grateful for the opportunity to broaden our staff and students’ understanding of the unique connections between MTSD and our local service members. Programs like Reading Buddies continue to allow us to build positive learning environments and support our military-connected students.
Thank you to all our visitors from JB-MDL!
