The Annual Military Inspection (AMI) is a staple evaluation wherein Manchester Township High School (MTHS) NJROTC cadets are assessed against the model of excellence put forth by the United States Navy. During the inspection, each and every member of the unit must shine in appearance, performance, knowledge, and discipline.
The attending inspector, Commander Eric Humphreys (RET), made his rounds to evaluate the cadets, row by row. While ensuring that they were squared away, he also asked the students to share their experience with NJROTC and plans for the future as prospective members of the armed services.

After the inspection, the MTHS NJROTC Color Guard completed a Presentation of the Colors, backed by a beautiful performance from the MTHS choir. The audience was treated to masterful rifle and marching drills, showcasing precise coordination and discipline on behalf of the cadets.

Lastly, those who displayed exemplary character lined up to receive recognition, a nod to their dedication and commitment to the program. It was clear during the AMI that cadets were dressed sharply, trained exhaustively, and led with excellence. What was not seen were the hours spent drilling before and after clubs, sports, and academic responsibilities. Each member of the unit worked tirelessly to shine during the inspection, and the commendations received were well-earned.

The success of the MTHS NJROTC program would be unthinkable without the continued effort and mentorship provided by LCDR John Holzer (RET) and MACS (SW/AW) Patrick McKay (RET). A special thank you to attending inspector Commander Eric Humphreys and everyone who came to support our cadets.
The MTHS NJROTC unit’s work will continue at the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11, at the MTHS auditorium. We welcome the community to attend in honor of our veterans and their service to our country.
